Do you believe that Artificial Intelligence could "Bring down our civilization"? If you do, then you'd share opinions with Elon Musk - ceo of Tesla Motors - perhaps the most visible forward thinking businessman on the planet.
In a recent article in the Washington Post, Musk goes on that artificial intelligence needs to be regulated (and he's usually opposed to innovation stifling regulatory rules) - before it's too late. Allowing computer systems to think and act for us could have disastrous consequences if not controlled.
Musk now heads up a startup called Neuralink, which aims to link our brains with computers - with a chief goal being to help those with injuries and illnesses. Musk sees the long-term goal as using a "plug-in" for our brains, connecting all of us to a cloud, and allowing communication directly from our thoughts. But the danger lies in system crashes, or hacking.
